Weakgenes CD Release Party @ The CASBAH LOUNGE {306 King St.W Hamilton} With Juliana Lachance ~Little Silver Tabby ~ The Peace Leeches
Julian awakened the room with her beautiful music. Playing the Bandura, a Ukrainian folk instrument, and singing enchanting lullabies.
Her amazing art also adorns the walls. Cedalou played an of Little Sliver Tabby acoustic set. He was laid back and melodic. Dreamy, haunting vocals, fierce guitar riffs, and psychedelic electronic beats. Weakgenes had the crowd shouting for more, and more you got when listing to the CD back home.
The Peace Leeches finished the show off with lots of enegry, a charismatic stage presence and catchy tunes.
Talent is something you can’t teach. The “artist eye” is not bestowed on everyone that owns a camera. What separates Melissa Moffats’ images from the rest is uncompromising vision.
A professional since 2006 Melissa has placed her work in the following publications: Echo, View, Eye Weekly, Fashion Magazine, EnRoute, Manifesto Festival website.
Melissa cut her teeth snapping the underground music scene of KW, and Toronto. She also has gained notoriety as a free-lance concert photographer freezing in time the visage of such notables as GZA, Talib Kweli, Feist, Sloan and many more.
Her fresh take on the individuality of her subject has gained the attention of those in the fashion industry. Most recently she has captured the fashion of Bruno Ierullo for Ad campaigns in EnRoute Magazine and Fashion Magazine (Sept & Dec 09).
Compassion has also plays a big role in Melissa’s ability to etch out personality. She proved this as the in-house photographer for the Father Ray Foundation at the Pattaya Orphanage in Thailand for six months.
It’s this heart and a knack for creating dialogue with lighting that propels her subjects off of the page.
