Retox w/ Wax Nostalgic and DJ Sawtay

Retox w/ Wax Nostalgic and DJ Sawtay @ Unit { 1198 Queen St. West}

On Friday night I went to Unit, this little bar on Queen st next to the Gladstone. If you have never been there though, you probable wouldn't know it was there. Wax Nostalgic was hosting their monthly RETOX party. I have been to Retox a bunch of times and always have a really good night, Brock Boogie & InVerse, spinning sick tunes that keep me dancing all night long. Funk, soul, rock steady, 80's boogie & classic hip-hop, the 11th Retox event did not disappoint! With special guest DJ Sawtay the night got off to a sweet start!

The flier photography done by Me, and the mural was painted by Adrian Hayles aka DJ Sawtay
Check out his amazing art work

"Boss says turn it down" Says the waitress as she reaches for the dial. "Boo" I say.. Then comes last the song. :(

Thanks for another wicked night! They will be back for the one year in Dec so be sure come shake it with me. Wax Nostalgic

Manifesto ~ After Party!

Manifesto After Party @ Revival {783 College st W}
Hi- Tek, Talib Kweli, Saukrates, Rich Kidd, and T. Ana Cole,

After the Main Event I stopped at home to eat and pretty myself up a little. Excited to party, to dance, after taking photos for days. I brought my camera just in case though.
When I arrived, the energy in the room was hyped, Rich Kidd was on stage. I push to the front pull out my camera and capture the madness.

Once Hi-Tek started spinning I put my camera away. I wanted to drink, to dance, and to slip into the vibe the of party.
Here is the a video of the performance of Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek
If you look in the crowd you can see me dancing hehe (pink and grey dress) .

Here is a video from Manifesto TV that captures the craziness of the Party!

MANIFESTO ~ The Main Event.

Manifesto
5 Days, 8 Events, 120+Artists One City

This was my first Manifesto, it was an amazing experience. It was an honor to be apart of the official Manifesto documentation team. (Thanks Meghan J) To work alongside other talented photographers and videographers, seeing the festival from behind the scenes, and shooting in pit! I met lots of cool people and saw wicked talent. Stay tuned for photos from the other 4 days.

Main Event @ Nathan Phillips Square
September 20th 2009

At the Main event I was shooting in the pit at the front of the stage.
Capturing them spit poetry, spin beats, create energy, and groove across the stage, creating an image of pixels, from light, dark, form, and inspiration. This is The Manifesto Festival though the lens of Melissa Moffat.
